The Honeywell Lyric T5 Thermostat is part of the Thermostat test program at Any Humidifier. In our lab tests, Thermostat models like the T5 RCHT8610WF have ratings on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Features of Honeywell Lyric T5 Thermostat
Smart IQ
An evaluation based on the smart features and functions associated with thermostats. It considers things like messaging, reporting, features controlled remotely via a mobile device, occupancy sensing, and learning.
Manual operation
It involves the ease of manually controlling the thermostat’s temperature set-point, heating/cooling schedule, home/away, and vacation features. Also, when they are available – through the thermostat and mobile app.
Automation
The ability of a thermostat to operate without input from the user.
On the plus side, the T5 is capable of automatically finding out whether the HVAC system needs to be in cooling or heating mode, so you don’t have to change modes manually.
Smart Alerts
It also supports Smart alerts that send text reminders about things like if your HVAC system’s air filter needs to be replaced and if temperatures within your house hit extremes.
Bottom line The Lyric T5 is not as technically innovative as its more-expensive rivals –including its Lyric Round sibling–however if you don’t need the more advanced features that thermostats like these offer, the Lyric T5 is a versatile and fashionable choice.
Geofencing
The Lyric mobile program and complete Geofencing functionality have improved steadily over the past couple of years, which makes this a trustworthy and reliable choice from Honeywell. Given that the T5 is officially Honeywell’s “budget” thermostat, it works a little differently than the Round, which is directly competing with the Nest.
The T5 essentially works in one of two ways after you tell it your favorite temperature ranges. You may use it as a conventional thermostat, where you schedule your temperature demands through the program. This includes options for establishing a day-by-day heating/cooling schedule, a weekday/weekend program, or a whole week schedule. There are just four-time slots each day–wake, home, off, and sleep– in comparison to this Lyric Round’s six. Geofencing is the only other way you may use it.
This thermostat makes effective use of connected phones’ geolocation skills to enter energy-saving modes once the app decides no one is home.
When Geofencing is active, the thermostat automatically sets itself to off mode, instead of relying on a set schedule.
Hardware
The Lyric T5 is flexible enough to meet the needs of anyone who doesn’t have overly complicated requirements due to their heating and cooling system. The Lyric T5 is compatible with much fewer smart-home apparatus than the Lyric Round. It demands the presence of the C wire coming from the HVAC system. But it requires detailed instructions for a simple setup and installation.
Lyric T5 is compatible with a wide range of hardware, such as single- and – multi-stage heating and cooling systems, heat pumps with and without auxiliary heat, geothermal and hot-water heating, and 24-volt gas stoves.
Unlike the Lyric Round, nevertheless, it does not support humidifiers, dehumidifiers, or ventilators. Additionally, it relies much more heavily on the Lyric mobile program; paradoxically, the T5’s much larger touchscreen makes it much easier to control in the thermostat itself.
Setup & Installation
The setup of the Lyric T5 is less sophisticated than many other smart thermostats, but you might not care given its price. This is a Wi-Fi and app-connected thermostat, so you can change settings and target temperatures on the fly whether you are home or away.
It might not also be equipped with occupancy sensors, and it does not use any algorithms to automatically adjust your home’s temperature settings like the Lyric Round or the Nest Learning Thermostat can.
Honeywell’s Lyric T5 Wi-Fi Thermostat is your organization’s budget-priced alternative for its higher-end Lyric Round. With a price tag that is $50 lower than the Round, some will find the T5 more appealing due to its design than its price. It’s a high tech appearance that doesn’t go over the top.
